Biography

Denise L. Johnson Miller, MD, FACS, Medical Director for Meridian Health System, Inc., has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in cancer care. Physician and medical director with Meridian Health Systems, Inc. for two years, Dr. Johnson Miller consults with patients, handles surgical planning, assesses high-risk cancer patients and provides imaging services. Combining her proficiency in science and m ath with her enjoyment of working with people, Dr. Johnson Miller has been a top physician in the cancer field for 37 years, specializing in diagnosing and treating breast cancer. Earning a Bachelor of Science in medical science from Northwestern University in 1976 and a MD from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1978, completed fellowships in surgical oncology at the City of Hope National Medical Center and in allergy and immunology at The University of Texas at Austin, and a general surgery residency at the University of Illinois. In 1991, she began teaching at Stanford University School of Medicine as an associate professor of surgery. After 18 years of teaching, she became the director of breast surgery at Franciscan St. Francis Health. Dr. Johnson Miller joined Meridian Health System, Inc. in 2013 as medical director, building her practice at Northern Monmouth County Medical Associates. She is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, The Society of Surgical Oncology, the National Medical Association, the International Society of Health Technology Assessment and the American Association of Cancer Research. Further, she is on the program committee of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons and a fellow with the American College of Surgeons. In the coming years, Dr. Johnson Miller hopes to be involved with national cancer care development in breast centers. Dr. Johnson Miller has received numerous awards for her work in breast cancer treatment, going back to 1978, when she was named Best Surgical Intern at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis two years in a row. In 1983 and 1984, she was awarded a Resident Research Fellowship by the American Cancer Society and in 1992, was selected as one of six Outstanding Women in Veterans Health by the Governor and the Department of Health. From 1995 through 1998, she was included in Sterling's Honorarium and Who's Who. During her time teaching at Stanford University, she received the Stanford University Dean's Fellowship Award from 1996 to 1997, the St. Clair Drake Teaching Award in 1998, and the Franklin O. Ebaugh Award for Medical Student Advising and the Minority Medical Faculty Achievement Recognition, both in 1999, as well as the Graduate Student Women of Color Faculty Recognition Award in 2000, the inaugural National Medical Leadership in Education Award in 2002 and was recognized by the School of Medicine with the Advising Dean's Excellence in Teaching in 2004. Dr. Johnson Miller was recognized by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. From 2005 to 2012 and again in 2014 as a Top Doctor for Cancer. In 2009 and 2011, she was named an Honored Member of Biltmore's Who's Who's Registry of Executives and Professionals. Further, in 2010 and 2011, she was recognized as an Indianapolis Top Doctor Breast surgery, and in 2011 and 2014 was ranked by U.S. News and World Report in the top one percent of breast surgery physicians. In 2012, she received Association of University Women Professors Congressional Recognition for Community Service for Breast Cancer in Palo Alto, CA, signed by Representative Anna Eschoo. Dr. Johnson Miller was named a Top Doctor for Women in Surgery for 2014 and 2015, as well as a Top Doctor for Cancer for 2014, by Inside New Jersey, and a Top Doctor in New York Metropolitan Area for Breast Surgery from 2014 to 2015. Her most recent accolades include Outstanding New Jersey Physician for Women's Health, the NAACP's Women in Medicine Award and Congressional Recognition for Community Service for Breast Cancer in Neptune, NJ, signed by Representative Frank Cirillio, all in 2015. Dr. Johnson Miller was featured in the Meridian Breast Surgery-Camal/Dr. Johnson Miller Spring Industry Magazine in 2014, and is currently featured as a Top Doctor in Newsweek Health's 2015 Top Cancer Doctors issue. Furthermore, she was named among the Top 1 Percent of Doctors for Breast Surgery in 2015. Abdelmonem Awad Hegazy

Dr. Abdelmonem A. Hegazy is currently working as Professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology Department in Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (Egypt); as well as he is a Consultant of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility. He is the former chairman of the Anatomy and Embryology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (Egypt); and Professor in King Saud and Majmaah Universities (KSA) 2009-2013 and Misurata, Faculty of Medicine (Libya) 2000. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the following international journals: International Journal of Human Anatomy (USA); Journal of Experimental Medicine and Biology (Singapore)&Women; Health and Complications (UK). He is the Former Editor-in-Chief of Zagazig University Medical Journal (Egypt). Dr. Hegazy is also a referee member of scientific research submittedfor promotion of professors in Egyptian Universities. Dr. Hegazy participates in Zagazig University academic, scientific, educational and professional development activities in the fields of medical sciences development, including basic and clinical research, policy implementation, design programs, set coursework plans, curricula, syllabi, scientific conference paneling, as well as designing and delivering a wide scope of continuous professional development programs, including training, strategic planning, research methodology, scientific thesis and dissertation writing; research proposal, medical ethics, organization’s behavior issues, all with emphasis on system and staff development. R Doug Wilson

Biography

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto with the gold medal, and then undertook specialty training in internal medicine and nephrology in Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, and London, England. Dr. Wilson subsequently joined the staff of the University of Toronto and Toronto General Hospital where he led the development of the kidney transplant program, practiced as a consulting nephrologist and launched the nephrology training program. He was actively involved in clinical and laboratory research in kidney disease, publishing more than 120 scientific papers over seventeen years, while becoming professor of medicine and director of the Division of Nephrology. In 1984, Dr. Wilson joined the University of Alberta as dean of the Faculty of Medicine, a position he held for ten years. During this period, the faculty greatly expanded its clinical and research staff, updated its educational programs, substantially increased its research funding and facilities, and established close working relationships with the other health science faculties and with the teaching hospitals. Following his service as dean, Dr. Wilson’s principal academic activity shifted to population health, health promotion, and public health. He was instrumental in establishing the interdisciplinary Centre for Health Promotion Studies, and chaired the provost’s task force which recommended establishing Canada’s first stand-alone faculty dedicated to public health at the University of Alberta. Dr. Wilson served as senior advisor to the dean following the formation of the School of Public Health in 2006. In this role, he provided leadership to numerous complex initiatives, which included developing the School’s first set of Faculty Evaluation Committee guidelines. He was also appointed as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

Iakovos Soussis

Iakovos was an Obstetrics and Gyncology Fellow: FRCOG from Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He completed his Master's Gegree, Anatomy from The University of Glasgow and Doctor of Medicine from Ethnikon Kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athhinon. Iakovos Soussis is a Consultant Obstetrician-Gynaecologist, Fertility and IVF Specialist. Offering cutting edge technology treatments, he combines excellence in science with a human approach. He worked for 12 years as an Obstetrician-Gynaecologist in British hospitals, including Hammersmith Hospital (London) and Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge). As a Research Fellow to Professors Lord Robert Winston and Raul Margara, he worked on all aspects of diagnosis and treatment of infertility, including tubal microsurgery and IVF. He was the clinician responsible for coordinating the assessment and the treatment of patients with genetic disease in the first worldwide Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), at the Hammersmith Hospital. Returning to Greece, he founded the “IVF&Genetics;” Institute of Gynaecology and Assisted Reproduction and was the Clinical Director for 18 years. He has participated in collaborative international trials of IVF drugs and co-authored the relevant scientific article, published in the journal Human Reproduction. His team was awarded the Medal for Research by the Athens Medical Association, for the first PGD of b-thalassaemia in Greece. He gained his membership of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of London in 1993 and he was elevated to the status of Fellow in 2007. He is a founding member of the Greek branch of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of London (Greece-Cyprus). He qualified from the Medical School of the University of Athens and obtained his MSc degree from the University of Glasgow.
