His research interests are in molecular epidemiology of non-communicable diseases especially diabetes and their impact on the health care system of developing countries. After studying some human genes like Transcription Factor 7 Like 2 (TCF7L2), Peroxisome prolifertor-activated receptor gamma 2 (PPAR-ɣ2), Krüppel Like Factor 14(KLF14), that predispose for type 2 diabetes, obesity and ketosis prone diabetes, which are growing concern in Africa and also in Cameroon, he propose the coordinate role of KLF14, a master gene which regulates both diabetes and obesity, and provides a variety drug development targets in the form of signal pathways that can reduce the progression of multiple metabolic phenotypes or the risk of their complications. He is presently working on how to use these genetic markers and others in the personalization of medicine. Magellan assists Professor Sobngwi Eugene as research associate in the Laboratory of Molecular Medicine and Metabolism (M3Lab) at the Biotechnology Centre (BTC) of this University mentioned above. He is active in other research programs includes the effect of weight lost in insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular diseases and Insulin sensitivity in patients with HIV/AIDS with 16 peer-reviewed publications, including the first Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis on the genetic risk of type 2 diabetes in the populations of the African continent, and over twenty (20) communications at the National and International conferences.
