Biography
Manijeh Razeghi received the Doctorat d'État es Sciences Physiques from the Université de Paris, France, in 1980. After heading the Exploratory Materials Lab at Thomson-CSF (France), she joined Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, as a Walter P. Murphy Professor and Director of the Center for Quantum Devices in Fall 1991, where she created the undergraduate and graduate program in solid-state engineering. She is one of the leading scientists in the field of semiconductor science and technology, pioneering in the development and implementation of major modern epitaxial techniques such as MOCVD, VPE, gas MBE, and MOMBE for the growth of entire compositional ranges of III-V compound semiconductors. She is on the editorial board of many journals such as Journal of Nanotechnology, and Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, an Associate Editor of Opto-Electronics Review. She is on the International Advisory Board for the Polish Committee of Science, and is an Adjunct Professor at the College of Optical Sciences of the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. She has authored or co-authored more than 1000 papers, more than 30 book chapters, and fifteen books, including the textbooks Technology of Quantum Devices (Springer Science+Business Media, Inc., New York, NY U.S.A. 2010) and Fundamentals of Solid State Engineering, 3rd Edition (Springer Science+Business Media, Inc., New York, NY U.S.A. 2009). Two of her books, MOCVD Challenge Vol. 1 (IOP Publishing Ltd., Bristol, U.K., 1989) and MOCVD Challenge Vol. 2 (IOP Publishing Ltd., Bristol, U.K., 1995), discuss some of her pioneering work in InP-GaInAsP and GaAs-GaInAsP based systems. The MOCVD Challenge, 2nd Edition (Taylor & Francis/CRC Press, 2010) represents the combined updated version of Volumes 1 and 2. She holds 50 U.S. patents and has given more than 1000 invited and plenary talks. Her current research interest is in nanoscale optoelectronic quantum devices. Dr. Razeghi is a Fellow of MRS, IOP, IEEE, APS, SPIE, OSA, Fellow and Life Member of Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Fellow of the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), and a member of the Electrochemical Society, ACS, AAAS, and the French Academy of Sciences and Technology. She received the IBM Europe Science and Technology Prize in 1987, the Achievement Award from the SWE in 1995, the R.F. Bunshah Award in 2004, and many best paper awards.

Biography
Prof. Terry M. Tritt is a Professor of Physics at Clemson University. He is a graduate of Clemson University obtaining his BA in 1980 and Ph.D. in 1985. He then served as a National Research Council Fellow at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC (1985-1989). From 1989 until 1996 he was a staff scientist at the Naval Research Laboratory before joining the faculty at Clemson University in Aug. of 1996. The focus of his current research centers on materials for thermoelectric (TE) refrigeration and power generation applications. He is considered an expert in the field of thermoelectric (TE) materials research and characterization. His primary research expertise lies in electrical and thermal transport properties and phenomena (especially in measurement and characterization techniques) in new and novel materials. His recent activities are focused on the synthesis and characterization of thermoelectric nanomaterials and nanocomposites & characterization of thermoelectric material’s parameters, especially thermal conductivity. Prof. Tritt has has served as a symposium organizer of four Materials Research Society Symposia on Thermoelectrics Materials (MRS Volumes 478, 545, 626 and 1044). He was recently an author and lead editor of a MRS Bulletin Theme (March 2006) on Thermoelectric Materials and Devices. He edited a three-volume set on “Recent Trends in Thermoelectric Materials Research†(Academic Press-2000) and has also recently edited a book by Kluwer Press on Thermal Conductivity. He is a former member (1999-2008) of the Executive Board of the International Thermoelectrics Society (ITS) and served as chairman and host of the 24th ITC-2005 at Clemson in June of 2005. He was recently elected as an Academy Fellow of the International Thermoelectrics Academy. In 2008 he was selected as the SCAS Governor’s Research Professor of the Year and the Clemson University Alumni Award For Outstanding Achievement In Research. In Spring 2009 he served as one of four Materials Research Society’s Meeting Chairs for the annual spring meeting in San Francisco that that hosted over 5000 scientists from all over the world. He was recently promoted to the position of Alumni Distinguished Professor, one of 15 such positions at Clemson University. He has recently been appointed as a Guest Professor at Zhejiang University and Wuhan University of Technology, both in China. He has written over 150 journal publications, over ten review articles and regularly gives invited presentations at national and international meetings as well as many university seminars.

Professor Bob Bradley has over 35 years experience in Materials Science and Surface Physics research and teaching, he is a visitor in the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford; holds the University of Wyoming, School of Energy Resources Chair in Carbon Materials Engineering and is Chairman and Managing Director of Matsurf Sciences (UK) Ltd and Black Dog Carbons. He is an internationally recognized authority on carbon materials and surface science. His main areas of interest include surface structure, interfaces, fluid-solid interactions, adsorption, porosity, fibres and polymers. His work has applications in: energy storage, low energy and clean technologies, environmental protection, composites and health care. He has authored over 200 scientific manuscripts; helped win over £13m in research funds and supervised over 400 projects and short studies by D.Phil., post-doctoral and ad-hoc research staff, he a is an active supporter of technology transfer and the ‘ideas to reality’ culture which promotes the development of sound basic science research toward technologies and products. Current research focuses on micro/mesoporous carbons for metal ion batteries and for pollution control, specific and non-specific interactions at carbon surfaces, photo-thermal energy harvest devices, the development of advanced materials from coal extracts and precursors and novel low-cost composites for automotive and aerospace applications. His research groups have hosted a number a prominent scientific meetings including Carbon 2006 World Carbon Conference, he has served on the editorial boards of a number of international journals and the advisory boards of major international conferences - most recently Carbon 2019 at UKY Lexington – and he has multiple global collaborations with leading laboratories. He has just retired as Chairman of the Society of Chemical Industry Materials Division - a position he held for several terms over the past two decades – and has previously received the societies Distinguished Service Award and their Award for Services to Council.

Haruo Sugi graduated from postgraduate school in the University of Tokyo with the degree of PhD in 1962, and appointed to be an instructor in physiology in the University of Tokyo Medical School. He worked at Columbia University (New York) from 1995 to 1966 as a research associate, and in the National Institutes of Health from 1966 to 1967 as a visiting scientist. In 1973, He was appointed to be Professor and Chairman at the Teikyo University Medical School until 2004, when he became Emeritus Professor. Sugi was Chairman of the Muscle Commission in the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) from 1994 to 2004.

Guoqian Chen is a professor of systems ecology and sustainability science at Peking University, China. He has a wide spectrum of research interests including climate thermodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, energy policy, systems ecological modelling, ecological economics, global and regional sustainability studies, systems input-output technique. With distinguished contributions as marked by around 300 publications in prestigious journals, Prof. Chen has won a series of awards and honors, including Elsevier Atlas Award, Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers Award, Thomson Reuters China Citation Laureate. Dr. Koch received his Ph.D. in metallurgy from the Case Inst. of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University) in 1964. He joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a staff scientist in 1965. He was the group leader of the superconducting materials and then the alloying behavior and design group before he joined North Carolina State University, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, as a professor in 1983. He is Kobe Steel Distinguished Professor of materials science and engineering. He has made significant contributions to understanding of mechanical alloying for preparation of amorphous and nanostructured alloys. It is in this context that processing has become an important part of his research. He has published over360 papers and edited or co-edited 7 books. In October 1995 Dr. Koch was cited in Science Watch for the third highest number of citations per paper in the world for high-impact articles in materials science for 1990 through 1994. He has achieved the rank of Fellow in professional societies, including the Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS), (the membership is limited to 100 living Fellows), the Materials Research Society (MRS), the American Physical Society (APS), ASM International, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He was elected into the U.S. National Academy of Engineering in 2013.

Dr. Aloysius F. Hepp graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.S. in Chemistry and earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Chemistry in 1983. He is Chief Technologist of Nanotech Innovations LLC, Oberlin, OH and Consulting Editor for Elsevier Science and Technology Books. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Materials Science and Engineering B and Heliyon. He was Editor-in-Chief of Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing (2010-2015) and is currently Chair of the International Editorial Advisory Board. He was senior research scientist at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) in Cleveland, OH until his retirement in 2016. He has 200 publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, technical publications, and book chapters in the areas of energy conversion and storage, precursors for spray pyrolysis of metal sulfides and carbon nanotubes, thin film and nanomaterials for photovoltaics and batteries, materials processing of local resources for space exploration and flight experiments for Mars and small satellites. Dr. You Qiang is a professor of physics and core-faculty in the Nuclear Energy Program at the University of Idaho and Idaho National Laboratory (INL), USA. He isthe director of Nanophysics and Nanomaterials Research Lab. He is also the Chairman (2019-2021) and a lifetime fellow of Idaho Academy of Science. He received a MS degree at the Harbin Institute of Technology and Chinese Academy of Space Technology in 1985, and a Ph.D. degree 1997 at the University of Freiburg, Germany. He was a research faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1999 to 2002. Dr.Qiang’s research focuses on magnetism and magnetic nanomaterials. He has studied magnetic nanoparticles and nanocomposites for more than 30 years. His expertise includes: synthesis of monodispersive nanoclusters and nanocluster-assembled composites; characterization of magnetic and optical properties as well as transport properties by conductivity, optics, susceptibility and theoretical investigation of magnetic nanoparticle interactions. He applied magnetic nanoparticles in energy, environmental and biomedical nanoscience and nanotechnology. Presently Dr. Qiang’s research interests are a) Magnetic separation nanotechnology for used nuclear fuel recycling; b) High temperature ferromagnetism and giant magnetoresistance of semiconductor oxide nanomaterials for spintronics; and c) magnetic nanoparticles for radiation detector and environmental remediation. He has published more than 100 refereed papers and 4 book chapters, more than 150 invited talks at national and international conferences, world-class universities and institutions, and served on national and international conference organizations and committees, including MMM, MRS, CleanTech, NanoTech and IMC. Heorganized and chaired conferences and sessions for INTERMAG, MMM, APS and NW-APS meetings. Biography: Dr. Longzhou Zhang is an associate professor of materials at Yunnan University (YNU), China. He got the degree of B.E. at Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in 2012. Then he moved to Australia and obtained his PhD from Griffith University in 2018. In the late of 2018, he joined the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Yunnan University as research group leader.
