Dr. Kuo-Chen Chou is the founder of Gordon Life Science Institute, the first Internet Research Institute ever established in the world. He is also a Distinguished High Impact Professor and Advisory Professor of several Universities. As of May 2019, Professor Chou has published over 600 papers with H-index over 147 according to Google Scholar Citations. He has been named by Thompson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics as a Highly Cited Researcher in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, listed in the Worlds Most Influential Minds. In 2017, he has been selected by Web of Science and Clarivate Analytics as one of the 21 Brightest Stars in science.
Temple F. Smith
Dr. Temple Smith graduated with a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of Colorado in 1969. Then did a National Institutes of Health (USA) postdoctoral fellowship under the direction of the mathematician, Stanislaw Ulam, and the molecular biologist, John R. Sadler. There he carried out a detailed analysis of the E. coli Lac operator mutations. In 1979, Dr. Smith was one of the founders of GenBank, the US/NIH repository of Nucleic acid and protein sequences, initially at Los Alamos National Laboratory. There, he with Walter Goad developed a statistical mechanical model of the Lac operon system similar to those now being developed in systems biology. Dr. Smith is a co-developer with Michael Waterman of the Smith-Waterman sequence alignment algorithm, underlying most DNA and protein sequence comparison methods today. Dr. Smith spent a sabbatical year working with Harold Morowitz at Yale resulting in a seminal paper on the relationship between biology, physics and history. In 1988 he moved to the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, there organizing a computational biology research center and initiating a series of international meetings, Genes and Machines on the application of computers in modern biology. In 1991 the center moved to Boston University, becoming the BioMolecular Engineering Research Center in the College of Engineering. Dr. Smith research has included, the evolution of protein structure;the modeling of the WD-repeat protein family with Dr. Eva Neer; the history of the Life Guard apoptotic regulatory protein family. Dr. Smith has served on a number of NIH and NSF review and advisory panels. As a member of Fly Base, he helped carry out a full-genome comparative evolutionary analysis of the Drosophila clade. More recently he has investigated the origin of the eukaryotic cell and the evolutionary of the cellular genetic translation system. In 2015 Dr. Smith was inducted as a follow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), as is also a fellow of the ISCB. He has over 200 reviewed publications. Dr. Smith was elected Emeritus Professor in BioMedical Engineering at Boston University, where he has continued his research and graduate student advising. Dr. Smith is an avid skier, ice climber, sailor, hockey coach and family man with four sons. He is also the co-founder of a small gene engineering company, Modular Genetics, Inc. in Woburn, MA.

Dr.Ithar Beshtawi is the Head of the Optometry department at An-Najah National University in Palestine. She is an Assistant Professor in Optometry, she holds a PhD in Optometry from The University of Manchester where she investigated the Biomechanical effects of collagen cross-linking treatment on human corneal tissue and cell morphology. During her PhD, a research was conducted to study the repeatability of Shack-Hartman aberometer and the Oculus Pentacam on normal subjects and a series of in-vitro studies were carried out to study the biomechanical and histological changes in the corneal tissue after applying different protocols of collagen cross-linking and repeated treatment using postmorterm and keratoconic human corneas. She also had her MSc in Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences from the University of Manchester where she investigated the effects of Multifocal Contact Lenses on peripheral refractive errors and Myopia. In 2017, Dr.Beshtawi won the Daniel Turnberg UK/Middle East Travel Fellowship Scheme organized by the Academy of Medical Sciences and conducted a research visit to the University of Manchester and to the University of Liverpool where she investigated the application of Nanoindentation technique in measuring the biomechanical properties of postmorterm human corneas after collagen cross-linking treatment. In her academic field, Dr. Beshtawi has published many research articles in high impact factor scientific journals and has been invited to present research papers in numerous national and international conferences. Additionally, she won An-Najah National University Award for Research Excellence and Quality of Publication in 2014, 2016 and in 2017 for her excellent research. Dr. Beshtawi has been active in many projects in the university, and she is currently involved in many projects such as: â€œPublic health and human rightsâ€, â€œCurriculum and skill development in vision rehabilitationâ€, and JUSUR programme for vision rehabilitation of partially sighted and blind Palestinian youth.

Her research activities will provide insights into novel cancer genetic markers validation that may translate into new targets in drug discovery.
