Dr Frimpong was born and raised in a farming community in Ghana where the major crops are cocoa, coffee, tomatoes, pepper, yam, cassava, maize, peanut, plantain, and banana. Growing up, his strong interest in the sciences and farming led him to pursue an agriculture degree with a crop science major and an MPhil degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics (both at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Ghana) with specialization in breeding tomatoes for yield, disease resistance, and fruit quality. After graduation, he joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Ghana as a peanut breeder. His research efforts in this position culminated in the development, registration, and commercialization of four peanut varieties; two of which are published the Crop Science of USA and the other two in the ICRISAT newsletter. Dr Frimpong holds a PhD degree in Plant Sciences from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada with a thesis on improving chickpea for grain quality. He worked as a Visiting Scientist with the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and currently an Independent Scientist and a Consultant. He is the past-President of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists, Saskatoon (Canada) branch.

Saeid Mobini is the Plant Analytics and Genetic Research Director at Sugarbud Craft Growers in Alberta, Canada. He earned his BSs, and MSc in plant breeding and Ph.D. in Agro-biotechnology (2010). Soon after, he completed two postdoctoral fellowships in the advanced plant breeding in University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Saeid has a sincere passion for horticulture and plant breeding, contributing an impactful value to both plant genetics and genome. He along with four full professors in plant breeding initiated the most cost-effective, fast and reliable Non-GMO plant breeding protocol for several crop species in commercial breeding scale.
